Inventory

The Inventory tab allows users to view details about the permit’s current inventory and where inventory usage is logged

Use and Disposal of an Inventory Item

When users are ready to indicate an inventory item was used or ready to be disposed of, they can select “Dispose” on the right side of the inventory item.

To waste, click on the gray Dispose Icon

From the Inventory Disposal Form the PI can enter:

  1. The amount of activity being disposed, and an accompanying quantity.

  2. Which container it will be disposed of in. The system will allow for quantities to be split via percentages in the case that the isotope needs to be separated into multiple containers. The PI is also able to see the details on the current contents of each container.

  3. Total amount of non-radioactive material. Example: 20uL of P32 added to 2L of water would be 2L water in aqueous container.

  4. Indicate the type of non-radioactive waste material, as well as any additional comments or description.

  5. (If Necessary) A new container can be made if the current isotope needs a new container.

Once the details have been entered, the PI can then click "Submit Log" to properly log the waste.

Stock Vial Disposal

Once you have disposed of all of your liquid radioactive material, the container disappears from your inventory in Safety Stratus. Because you still have an empty stock vial that may have trace amounts of material left, we need to create a new container to properly dispose of the stock vial.

Here are the steps to create an empty stock vial waste container.

Refer to the instructions on how to create a waste container with trace activity here:

Confirm Receipt of an Item into Inventory

After an order is placed, and the parcel containing the isotopes has a arrived, the administrator will make note in the system that it is ready for be delivered to the PI. At that point the system will reflect that, and the PI will have to select to "Confirm" the delivery of the package to document that they have received the package. Once confirmed it will then be added to the PI's inventory.

To accept the package into the PI's inventory, they need to conform it after it has been received by the school.

Sub-Vial an Inventory Item

If an inventory item needs to be split into two separate containers, the user can Sub-Vial the inventory. Select “Sub-Vial” and a popup screen will appear. The PI or Location Manager can add details such as a new designated label for the new container, and an amount of activity being extracted to it. Once the details are in click on "Submit" and it will generate a new sub-vial in the PI's inventory. **I kept some of this info the same because I am not fully sure I understand the process of sub-vialling

Sub-Vial can allow the PI to split up the contents of a container

On the Sub-Vial screen, the PI can add details such as a new designated label for the new container, and an amount of activity being extracted to it. Once the details are in click on "Submit" and it will generate a new sub-vial in the PI's inventory.
